Walk humbly with your God

O ALMIGHTY God, who alone canst order the unruly wills and affections of sinful men: Grant unto thy people, that they may love the thing which thou commandest, and desire that which thou dost promise: that so, among the sundry and manifold changes of the world, our hearts may surely there be fixed. where true joys are to be found; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
The Collect - page 194 of The Book Of Common Prayer Canada

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.
And what does the Lord require of you?
To act justly and to love mercy
and to walk humbly with your God.

Micah 6:8 (NIV)

Echo of His creation

The Lord God made the world,
I am but a mere echo of His creation.
His wonder and miracles wrap around me
to inspire my very existence.

He creates sights, sounds and tastes
to tempt my heart.
To Him I give praise and thanks
for all that is good.

May God always grant me the vision
to see Him and to feel His presence.
May He guide me through this life
and protect me from my own sinful nature.

ANZAC DAY 25th April 2013.

The Rev Mark Charleston from St Andrew’s Cathedral
has made available the following prayers for use over ANZAC weekend:

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING AND FOR PEACE IN OUR WORLD
Our Lord Jesus Christ said:
"Greater love has no one than this, that someone lays down his life for his friends."

Almighty God and Heavenly Father,

Whose kingdom rules over all and in whom there is perfect freedom. We give you thanks on this Day for all who have served in the defence of this country.

As we remember those men and women who served - in the ranks of our Navy, Army, Air Force, Merchant Navy and Police, we give thanks to you, gracious God, for their great sacrifices in conflict and in captivity - for the cause of peace and freedom. In our nation of wealth, prosperity and comfort, let us not forget the cost of these privileges which we now enjoy.

And, gracious Father, we pray for peace. Have mercy on our broken and divided world and banish the spirit that makes for war. We ask that leaders of nations and governments will pursue freedom, justice and the welfare of all peoples.

And finally, we pray for ourselves. In the midst of worldly turmoil and strife, make us yearn for peace - not only with each other - but peace with you through our crucified and risen Saviour.  Trusting in Him for the forgiveness of our sins, help us to look forward to His kingly return.

Through Jesus Christ our Lord.       Amen.

Prayer

O Lord
Help me to locate and thank you every dawn as I awaken:

Create within me a an open heart cleansed and renewed with the right spirit:
Bless me with the strength of your wisdom, so deceit can not lead me astray:
Grant me humility to soften my heart, opening me to your daily teaching:
Guide me in thought, word and deed to reflect Your values into my world:
Remind me to show forgiveness, patience & mercy for others, as you have shown me:
Strengthen me in my desire to obey you, and my power to please you:
Free my senses so I continually recognise and praise you in all aspects of my life:
Dwell within me Lord and transform me into your likeness.

Amen

A joyful noise to God

Make a joyful noise to God, all the earth;
sing the glory of his name;
give to him glorious praise.
Say to God, ‘How awesome are your deeds!
Because of your great power,

your enemies cringe before you.
All the earth worships you;
they sing praises to you,

sing praises to your name.’
 Psalm 66:1-4 (NRSVACE)

General Intersession

To live happy, healthy, productive lives we all need the grace of God, and we all need prayer because  life gets difficult at times and we can't do it alone.

Below is a general intersession prayer. We all fit into at least one of the mentioned categories, so too those around us. As you read through this prayer take the time to find in your mind those you know, who fit each category, turning it into a personal and heart-felt communication with God.

Be mindful, O Lord. of thy people bowed before thee, and of those who are absent through age, sickness or infirmity. Care for the infants, guide the young, support the aged, encourage the faint-hearted, collect the scattered, and bring the wandering to thy fold. Travel with the voyagers, defend the widows, shield the orphans, deliver the captives, heal the sick. Succour all who are in tribulation, necessity, or distress. Remember for good all those that love us, and those that hate us, and those that have desired us, unworthy that we are, to pray for them.And those whom we have forgotten, do thou, O Lord, remember. For thou art the Helper of the helpless, the Saviour of the lost, the Refuge of the wanderer, the Healer of the sick. Thou who knowest each man's need, and hast heard his prayer, grant unto each according to thy merciful loving-kindness and thy eternal love: through Jesus Christ our Lord.   Amen.

Why not join us for prayer and Mass at St. Hilda's Parish, Anglican Catholic Church in Maitland NSW Australia.

Jesus is my shepherd.

Jesus said, I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.  But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep. The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep. I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine. As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep. And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one flock, and one shepherd.

Commit your way to the Lord, trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn,  your vindication like the noonday sun.
Psalm 37:5-6 NIV

Holy Jesus, be my Light, Shine upon my way;
Through this tempting, changing life
Lead me day by day.
Amen.
